100% voting recorded in Srinagar in first ever BDC polls

The first ever Block Development Council (BDC) election has been conducted in Jammu & kashmir on 24th October, 2019. Congress and PDP had boycotted this BDC election of J&K due to abrogation of Article 370 from J&K. Total 98.3% voting recorded despite the boycott of Congress and PDP.

Srinagar, Capital of Jammu & kashmir has recorded 100% turnout in this Block Development Council (BDC) election which is unbelievable for anyone.

“Total 98.3 per cent polling was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir. 10 Districts of Kashmir region recorded 93.6% voting while 99.4 percent voting recorded for the 10 districts in the Jammu region,” Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shailendra Kumar said.

Total 1092 candidates had contested in this election held in 310 Block Development Council (BDC).

Srinagar recorded 100% voting which is the highest in the state while Shopian and Pulwama districts recorded 85.3 and 86.2 per cent respectively which is the lowest in the state.

Percentage Turnout

In Kashmir Division out of 137 Blocks notified for election,109 independent and 18 BJP candidates were elected.

In Jammu Division out of 148 blocks, 88 independent and 52 BJP candidates won the BDC election.

In Ladakh Division out of 31 blocks notified for election,20 independent and 11 BJP candidates were elected in today’s BDC elections.

There were 26,629 electors . 8,313 women and 18,316 men voted for the polls to elect chairpersons of Block Development Council (BDC) in Jammu & Kashmir.
