16th sept 2018: ISRO created history again

ISRO launched the PSLV-C42 from Satish Dhawan Space Center of Sriharikota.  ISRO successfully launched PSLV C42, putting two UK satellites in orbit, demonstrating India’s prowess in the competitive space business. This historic opportunity for India is because it is ISRO’s first fully operational commercial launch. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has said that Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C42 (PSLV) will go into space with two British satellites. These satellites are NovaSAR and S1-4. PSLV-C42 launched on Sunday night at 10:30 pm.

ISRO also confirmed that the PSLVC-42 launches NovaSAR and S1-4 satellites successfully.

The weight of these two satellites is 583 kg and they will be launched under the agreement with ISRO’s commercial unit, Entrance Corporation Limited. The S1-4 satellite will be used for monitoring resources, inspecting the environment, urban development management and disaster control. NovaSAR will be used primarily for inspection of forest maps, land use and icy lands. Apart from this, it will also be used for flood and disaster inspection, ship detection and sea inspection.These two satellites will be set up in 582 km Sun synchronous orbit.isro PSLV c42

On this occasion, ISRO also released a video. ISRO has said that India has set a very long and difficult route to be self-dependent in launch vehicle technology and has learned this technique automatically. ISRO can now launch multiple satellites simultaneously. First of all, three satellites were launched simultaneously in 1999, ISRO made records by launching 10 satellites in 2008 and 104 satellites together in 2017 for space launch.

In previous 25 years, India has successfully launched 52 indigenous and 237 foreign satellites through PSLV in space. For the launch of light and heavy satellites, now there are two versions of PSLV Core Alone and High-end XL versions.
