On Sunday, Students of Jamia Millia Islamia were protesting in Delhi to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. Protests by the students of Jamia Islamia have now become violent. The protesting students have set 3 buses on fire.

4 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot to extinguish the fire. While extinguishing the fire of the buses, the students attacked the vehicles, in which a fireman got injuries. Students of Jamia Millia Islamiaalso pelted stones on cars and buses.

Today Jamia students have protested against the citizenship law on Kalindi Kunj Road. Earlier also, Jamia students had carried out violence outside Jamia Millia Islamia.

On Friday, the All India Students Association (AISA) tried to march to Parliament, due to which police also lathi-charged to stop the protesters from moving, following which the protest turned violent. Many media persons were also injured in the clash between student-policemen. Following the protests, several messages were circulated on social media, asking students to boycott all academic activities, including ongoing examinations.

Due to this protest, a notification was issued by the university which said “All examinations have been postponed. New dates to be announced in due course of time. Winter vacation declared from December 16, 2019, to January 5, 2020. University to open on 6th January 2020.”
