Three Indian Army soldiers have lost their lives due to avalanche in Machil sector of Kupwara, while one jawan is still missing. Not only this, 5 people are also reported to have died due to avalanche in the valley. According to army sources, several avalanche incidents have been reported in Rampur and Gurez sectors.
According to army sources, due to heavy snowfall in the last 48 hours, avalanche incidents have occurred in many places in North Kashmir. 3 soldiers have lost their lives while one is still missing. According to army sources, many soldiers trapped in avalanches have also been rescued.

Apart from this, 5 people died and many houses were damaged due to avalanche in Kulan village near Sonmarg in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir .
Even earlier, on 3 December 2019, four army personnel died in two separate incidents of avalanches near the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir.
