Indian Government has highlighted the seven Chinese companies which are operating in India and They have also links with the People’s Liberation Army (Chinese Army).
List of 7 Chinese Companies in India with direct/Indirect links with Chinese Army:
- Xindia Steels Lts
- Xinxing Cathay international
- China electronic technology group
- SAIC motor corporation
Indian government sources highlighted that “these companies are under watch and could face potential action”.
Indian Govt sources highlighted that Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent are part of China’s military-civil fusion and artificial intelligence projects.
Alibaba: Alibaba has invested in popular Indian startups like PayTM, PayTM Mall, Food delivery startup Zomato, Grocery delivery startup Big basket, Snapdeal, Xpressbees.
Tencent: It has also made big investments in Indian tech startups like Flipkart, Ola cabs, Hike messenger, Medical startup Practo, Education startup Byju, Swiggy, Dream 11, Music streaming service Gaana, News apps Newsdog.
Tencent has invested $400 million in Olacabs, $700 million in Flipkart, $90 million in health care startup Practo, $51 million in learning startup Byju and $100 million in Dream 11 fantasy.
Huawei: It was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, a former Deputy Regimental Chief in the People’s Liberation Army (Chinese Army). It is a popular brand in India which reported revenue of Rs. 12,800 crore in 2018-19 from its Indian operations. It has been banned by US, Japan, UK and Australia from their 5G networks.
