After S-400, India signs $777 Million deal for Israeli Missile Defense Systems

Recently, after the S-400 air defense deal from Russia, India has made a great deal for modern Israeli missile defense systems. According to reports, for this, Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) has received a $ 777 million contract.  Under this agreement, the Israeli company will supply LRSAM Air and Missile Defense Systems to 7 ships of Indian Navy .

The contract is with India’s state-owned Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), which is the main contractor in the project, IAI said.

This system is used by the Indian Navy, the Air Force and the Army with Israeli Navy. “IAI’s partnership with India dates many years back and has culminated in joint system development and production,” IAI chief executive officer Nimrod Sheffer said. “India is a major market for IAI and we plan to reinforce our positioning in India, also in view of increasing competition.”

It may be mentioned that last year, the IAI had made a deal of nearly $ 2 billion for the supply of missile defense systems to the Indian Army and Navy. And after this, a $ 630 million contract was made to supply Barak 8 with the Bharat Electronics Limited(BEL). This is a surface-to-air missile system.

Barak is a surface-to-air missile system. It is used on the ship as an anti-missile defense system. It is designed by the IAI in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Defense,Israel’s Rafael and Indian Defense Research. Both countries’ forces use this Air Defense system.
