Saudi Arabia has asked all the Pakistani doctors with MS (Master of Surgery) and MD (Doctor of Medicine) degree to leave the country or be ready for deportation. This decision of Saudi Arabia has made thousands of Pakistani doctors jobless.
According to Dawn news report, Saudi Arabia and some other Arab countries have rejected the century-old postgraduate degree programme of Pakistan — MS (Master of Surgery) and MD (Doctor of Medicine), removing it from the eligibility list of the highest paid tier.
Saudi Arabia claimed that the Pakistan’s MS/MD degrees have lacked of structured training programme. Most of the Pakistani doctors were hired in Saudi Arabia health ministry who have been sacked and asked to leave.
After this step of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have also asked Pakistani doctors to leave the country.
One of the Pakistani doctor said that this is a big embarrassment for Pakistan as same degree from India, Egypt, Sudan & Bangladesh is valid in Saudi Arabia but Saudi has only rejected the Pakistani degree.
Termination letters of several doctors issued by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) says, “Your application for professional qualification has been rejected. Reason is that your master degree from Pakistan is not acceptable according to the SCFHS regulations,”
All the Pakistani doctors in Saudi Arabia are now blaming their country Pakistan & College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for damaging their career.
Talking to Dawn news, one of the sacked doctor said, “I had done five-year postgraduate qualification from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, with training from Lahore General Hospital… But all of a sudden the Saudi health ministry terminated my job contract, landing me and my family in immense shock.”
