Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat will be awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) on Republic Day this time. He is being given this award for the service of the nation. Defence Ministry sources suggest that normally it’s the Army Chief himself who awards the medal, but in this case, the nomination has come from the Defence Ministry. Defence Minstry wants to give PVSM to general Bipin Rawat.
Apart from this, besides the Indian Army, the officers and soldiers of Air Force and Navy will be awarded the Gallantry Award on 26 January . These rewards will be given to save the citizens during the floods in Kerala and to bring them safely. Lance Naik Nazir Wani, who martyred while fighting with terrorists last year, will be posthumously given the Ashok Chakra.
