Pakistan hockey team, which has its own set of records in world hockey, has been in crisis now. Due to the shortage of money, Pakistan’s team had been able to take part in the Hockey World Cup with very difficulty last year. Now once again Pakistan hockey team is in trouble because the possibility of attending the Olympics in the next year of the team is almost over.
This is because of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has not included Pakistan in the pre-qualifying tournaments next month. Ireland, Egypt, Scotland, Singapore, France, South Korea, Ukraine and Chile will participate in this tournament in France, but Pakistan will not be there.
Asif Bajwa, the new general secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation(PHF), termed it as a big blow to Pakistan. He said, “FIH did this because we had not sent our team for the FIH Pro Hockey League in February,.” The PHF is already going through a grave economic crisis. PHF has already been fined 170,000 euros for not participating in the Pro Hockey League matches.
Saving Pakistan from FIH topmost priority, says Brig Khokhar https://t.co/zwQeUY49FJ— Pakistan Hockey (PHF) (@PHFOfficial) May 16, 2019
Hockey is the national sport of Pakistan and due to mismanagement in recent years, there has been a severe economic crisis in front of it. Pakistan now has only 7.65 lakhs rupees, while it is fined Rs 4.5 crore. Nine teams are participating in the Pro Hockey League. This tournament started in January and will end in June.
