Central Government has made a big announcement for Jammu and Kashmir Special Police Officer (SPOs). In the recent days, the Union Home Ministry has increased the salary of the SPOs after threats from the terrorists. On behalf of the Home Ministry, it was given official information to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary BV R Subramanyam. In a letter sent to the state government, it has been said that the demand for increment of the SPOs is accepted by the Home Ministry.
According to official letter, those SPOs who have joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been in less than 5 years, they have been paid Rs. 6000 per month, those who have been in more than 5 years, have been given Rs. 9000 and those who have completed 15 years Will be given 12000 per month. This decision has been implemented. With this step of the central government, 30,000 SPOs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police will benefit.
A senior official in the Jammu and Kashmir government said that the Home Ministry accepted the proposal sent by the Jammu and Kashmir government within 48 hours. He said that till now the SPO which has served its services for one year received Rs. 5000, the SPO which has served between 1 to 2 years, received 5500 rupees and SPO which has served more than 2 years, recieved 6000 per month but now they will receive their salary according to new pay scale.

Even before this, the Central Government had given the family of SPO to the amount received after the martyrdom of Rs 30 lakhs. Which was previously 17.5 lakhs.
