Central govt sends notice to Tik Tok & Helo App for Anti-national activities

The Central Government has issued notice to Chinese social media apps TikTok and Helo. 21 questions have been asked from these companies. The government has made it clear that if these questions are not answered properly till 22nd July, then the decision of the Ban can be taken while taking strong action against them.

According to Business Standard report , 7 states (Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat, Punjab and Karnataka) are planning to ban the apps. 

“We came across a video on Tik Tok which shows a toddler touching his private parts and a woman laughing. We have tried working with the teams of these social media firms but such incidents continue. We strongly believe banning TikTok and similar apps is the only solution,” said a senior official of the IT Cell for the government of Telangana.

TikTok and Helo have been opposing for a long time. Many organizations believe that anti-national elements are booming with the help of these apps. According to the media report, RSS affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch took its complaint to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), after which the government has taken this decision.

It is noted that Helo App is also owned by Tik Tok which was banned by Facebook during election time. Facebook banned the HELO app because this app was trying to interfere in Indian Election by putting approx 11,000 political ads during election Time.

The Madras High Court has already banned the Tik Tok. The court had said in its order that it banned the download of this app. Later the government had asked Google and Apple to remove Tik Tok from its Play Store. Ban was running for a few days. After this the matter reached the Supreme Court. The court later removed the ban. However, this matter is still pending in court.
