Congress President Rahul Gandhi replied to the contempt petition filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi in the Supreme Court and expressed regret over his comment. It is notable that BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi had filed contempt petition in the Supreme Court against the comments of Congress president Rahul Gandhi. After the Supreme Court’s decision on the re-petition of the Rafale issue, Rahul Gandhi had said that the Supreme Court has admitted that the ‘watchman is thief( Chowkidar Chor Hai)’.

The case of contempt of court against Congress President Rahul Gandhi will be heard on Tuesday (April 23) in the Supreme Court. On April 15, the court issued notice to Rahul Gandhi on the plea of BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi on the contempt plea of Rahul Gandhi against Pm Modi on the Rafale issue. The Supreme Court had asked Rahul Gandhi to reply by April 22.
Meenakshi Lekhi had said that the Congress President Rahul Gandhi has misrepresented the decision of the Supreme Court to make the confidential document a part of the debate in the Rafale case. Lekhi had accused Rahul of saying that he has presented his statement of ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ as the statement of the Supreme Court. He had said that after the SC’s decision in relation to Rafale’s plea, Rahul Gandhi had said that “the Supreme Court has also recognized that the Chowkidar Chor Hai!”
