Darshan Devi, A War-Widow Donates Rs 2 Lakh To PM CARES Fund

Darshan Devi, a war-widow has donated  Rs 2 lakh from her savings to the PM CARES fund to fight the coronavirus crisis. She is an 82 years old war-widow whose husband had sacrificed his life during 1965 Indo-Pakistan war.

Darshan Devi belongs to a remote village near Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. Her husband was a Havildar in the Indian Army. She was just 22 years old when his husband sacrificed his life during 1965 Indo-Pakistan war.

Darshan Devi contributed Rs 2 lakh to the PM CARES fund through the local authorities in Uttarakhand.

Chief Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat praised her generous contribution. He said, “We are proud of Shrimati Darshani Devi. Many of us need to follow the fine example that she has set. If we cannot contribute let us at least pay our taxes and not find means to avoid them.”
