Today Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will go to a two-day visit to France. During this visit, Rajnath Singh will receive the first Rafale aircraft manufactured for Indian Air Force.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will meet French President Emmanuel Macron on 8 October. After this meeting, Rajnath Singh will go to Bordeaux to participate in the Rafale fighter jet handing-over ceremony.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will perform ‘Shastra Puja’ on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami and fly a sortie in the Rafale fighter jet.
‘Shastra Puja’ is a very old Hindu tradition of Hindus in which warriors worship their weapons. Defence officials close to Rajnath said, ‘Rajnath worships arms on every VijayaDashmi during his tenure as Home Minister. Now he will continue this tradition as the Defence Minister.
According to IAF source, “a French pilot will fly in the front cockpit while Singh will sit in the rear cockpit.”
According to Indian Air Forces sources, The tail number of the first Rafale aircraft delivered to India is RB-01. The tail number is named after Indian Air Force Chief designate Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria.
Deputy Air Force Chief Air Marshal VR Chaudhary has already flown in the aircraft for around one hour for testing purpose but Formal handing over ceremony of Rafale is on October 8 where Defence Minister Rajnath singh will officially accept the first RAFALE aircrat at Merignac along with French minister of armed forces Florence Parly.
