The Ministry of Defence has received some complaints about the depiction of Indian Army soldiers and military uniforms in the film and web series. Following this complaint, the Ministry of Defence formally asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), MEITY and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ask the production house to obtain NOC before telecast of any film/ documentary/web series on the armed forces.
The Central Board of Film Certification and the Ministry of Information Broadcasting have also been advised by the Ministry of Defence that all this is being done to prevent incidents that tarnish the image of the Indian Armed forces and hurt the sentiments of defence personnel and veterans.
“It has been brought to the notice of this Ministry that some production houses, making films on Army theme, are using contents which are distorting the image of the Indian Army. Therefore, the producers of movies/web series etc based on Army theme may be advised to obtain the NOC from Ministry of Defence before the telecast of any movie documentary on Army theme in the public domain,” said Ministry Of Defence in the letter.
In the complaint received from the Ministry of Defense, it has been said that in some of the web series like Code M on Zee5 and XXX Uncensored (season-2) on ALT Balaji, the scenes related to the Army are far from reality and present a distorted image of the Armed Forces.
Not only this, the scenes shown in the series related armed forces show a bad image of the Indian armed forces. Some concerned civilians and ex-servicemen organizations have also filed FIRs against ALT Balaji, who are demanding legal action against the OTT platform.
