Former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair has received a death threat from terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed(JeM) for supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ASAT test. CISF officials received this letter from mailbox of G Madhavan Nair residence in Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram. After recieving this letter, CISF officials handed over this to investigation agency.
According to report, Dr G Madhavan Nair has confirmed that a letter was recovered from his residence and the security officials directly handed it over to the police. “I have not read the letter but the investigation officers contacted me and divulged about the content of the letter,” he said.
Kerala police said, “The death threat that came in a letter, mentions the name of the Jaish-e- Mohammed terror group. It has now been sent for a high-profile forensic examination and the test results are awaited. The police have already registered a case and detailed investigations are going on by multiple probe teams of the Kerala Police”
This threat came on the same day when he praised Prime Minister Narendra modi for successful of ASAT test(Mission Shakti). According to police sources, the letter warns that G Madhavan Nair will be killed unless he stops supporting Narendra Modi. Dr Nair received the letter, in the name of Jaish-e-Mohammed. This is the same terrorist organisation which attacked in pulwama on CRPF jawans.
On 27th March, Former ISRO chairman praised the Pm modi for his strong political will and criticized the UPA govt which didn’t allow this test earlier for their lack of Political will and he said, “Now (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji has taken the initiative and he had the political will and courage to say that we will do this. We have now demonstrated this to the whole world”
The 75 years G Madhavan Nair served as the chairman of ISRO from 2003 to 2009, and led India’s first lunar orbiter mission, Chandrayaan-1. He has been also awarded with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for his outstanding contribution in ISRO. He played a crucial role in the design and development of the cryogenic engine for the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). he is also a BJP member. last year he joined the Bhartiya Janta Party.
