This move of France is believed to be a big success for India. Masood Azhar, chief of the Jash-e-Mohammad, had recently taken the responsibility of a suicide attack in Pulwama, in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred. This will be the second time when France will be the party to such a proposal in the United Nations.
In 2017, the United States had passed a resolution in the United Nations Prevention Committee, 1267, with the support of Britain and France, in which the demand for a ban on the head of the Pakistan-based terrorist organization was sought. China had opposed this proposal. A senior French source said: “France will lead a proposal to put Masood Azhar in the terror list in the United Nations. It will be in the next few days. ”
French sources told that the French decision was taken after the discussion between the French President’s diplomatic advisor Philip Etienne and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval this morning.
