Govt To Withdraw NSG Commandos From All VIPs Security Duties

The Central Government has decided to withdraw the NSG (National Security Guard) cover from the security of all VIPs. According to information from government sources, the National Security Guard (NSG) will now be kept away from the task of providing security to specific people. Even before this, the Home Ministry has reduced the security of many big leaders along with the removal of SPG security of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Nearly two decades later, this will happen when the NSG’s Black Cat Commandos will be kept away from the protection of VIPs. When the NSG was formed after the 1984 riots, the security of VIPs was not included in the responsibilities of this force.

This special armed squad equipped with modern weapons provides security cover to VIPs, which is currently available to 13 VIPs with Z Plus security. About two dozen commandos are deployed to protect such VIPs.

Sources in the NSG told news agency PTI that Government has decided to withdraw NSG Black Cat Commandos posted for the protection of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This responsibility will soon be handed over to the paramilitary forces.

Apart from these leaders, former Chief Ministers Mayawati, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Chandrababu Naidu, Prakash Singh Badal, Farooq Abdullah also have NSG security cover. Along with this, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani have also got NSG security.

According to Home Ministry sources, the main task of the NSG is to prevent incidents like anti-terrorist operation and aircraft hijack. But giving protection to specific people is a burden on this special force. Keeping this in mind, the government has taken this decision.

After this decision, now about 450 Black cat commandos of NSG will be free from giving protection to VIPs and they can be deployed on the basic work of the force, the official said.

After the withdrawal of the security cover, they will be deployed at the five NSG bases in the country, so that they can be availed from there if needed.

According to the government’s plan, the responsibility of protecting VIP people can be given to paramilitary forces like CISF and CRPF who are already deployed to protect around 130 high profile people.

Apart from this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has also got the security of Para Military Forces. At the same time, CISF has the responsibility to provide security to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
