Huge embarrassment for Pakistan, Sri Lanka President denies statement by Pakistan & says, Don’t misquote us

Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena has denied the statement given by Pakistan High Commission yesterday. Sri Lankan president said that he did not give any such type of statement on Article 370.

Pakistan High Commission said in its statement that Sri Lanka President had supported the Pakistan’s view on Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan High Commission said, “The President of Sri Lanka acknowledged that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and expressed his desire that this dispute should be resolved according to wishes of Kashmiris under UN Resolutions. He also offered Sri Lanka’s mediation and facilitation of dialogue between Pakistan and India to re-activate the SAARC forum. “

Sri Lankan President’s office has totally denied this statement of Pakistan High commission and said that The President did not make any comment on the issues pertaining to India and Pakistan and Pakistani high commission is misquoting the President’s statement on J&k issue.

Sri Lankan President’s Media Division said, “The President gave a careful hearing to the Pakistan High Commissioner’s views and stated that both India and Pakistan have excellent friendly relations with Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka’s interest is to see the growth of regional cooperation and friendship. The President did not make any other comment on the issues pertaining to India and Pakistan.”
