Indian Air Force has approved the Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna’s name to be included on the National War Memorial. According to sources, IAF headquarter has listed the name of late Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna in list of Air force personnel who sacrificed their lives to the country.

Nirmal Khanna, wife of Late Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, has been fighting for justice for her late husband who lost his life in a attack planned by JKLF leader Yasin Malik on 25 January, 1990. Recently, She requested Indian Government and IAF to include his brave husband’s name on the National War Memorial.
On January 25, 1990, Atleast 14 IAF soldiers were waiting for IAF bus at bus stand in Rawalpora chowk in Kashmir. Before the arrival of IAF bus, a gypsy with came with a bike. Suddenly 5 men with AK-47 started firing bullets at the unarmed 14 IAF soldiers.
All 14 IAF soldiers fell down immediately and couldn’t able to fight back. 4 IAF soldiers lost their lives immediately after the firing.
The fallen IAF soldiers were Squadron leader Ravi Khana, Corporal DB Singh, Corporal Uday Shankar and Airman Azad Ahmed.
Two local kashmiri women had also lost their lives in this attack who were waiting at bus stop. According to eyewitness, Attackers were dancing with pro-jihadi slogans after killing the IAF jawans.
According to Nirmal Khanna, wife of Late Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, Her husband Ravi Khanna was hit by 27 bullets. Ravi Khanna’s parents could not bear the loss of their son and After the 10 months of the death of Ravi Khanna, his parents died.
In a interview with Open The Magazine, Nirmal Khanna says, She was without a pension for 4.5 years before she won her due in the court. “Let bygones be bygones. But I must tell you that I fought like Phoolan Devi.”
Now JKLF leader Yasin Malik is in Tihar jail and after 30 years, Jammu TADA Court has started trial against Yasin Malik in the killing of 4 unarmed IAF soldiers including Squadron leader Ravi Khanna. TADA court has asked Tihar jail to produce Yasin Malik.
“Yasin Malik pumped 27 bullets into my husband’s body. For more than 29 years, I have been fighting battle for justice and survival. But the successive governments failed me,” Nirmal Khanna told India Today.
Nirmal Khanna said on Times now, “I have struggled for the last 30 years and now I can see a ray of hope.”
