IAF To Buy HAMMER Air To Ground Missile To Boost Rafale Capability

In the midst of the ongoing Border Dispute with China, Indian Govt has decided to acquire HAMMER missiles from France using Emergency Powers.

The order is being processed under the emergency financial powers given to the Indian Armed Forces by the Ministry of Defence.

French authorities have agreed to supply it for Rafale fighter jets in a short time. Keeping in mind the urgent need of these missiles by the Indian Air Force, the French authorities will provide these missile systems to India from the existing stock, which they had designed for some of their other customers.

The first consignment of HAMMER missiles will reach India on July 29. These missiles will be deployed in Rafale aircraft. Rafale’s firepower, one of the world’s most spectacular fighter aircraft, will become even more lethal with the HAMMER missile. These missiles are capable of targeting any type of target from a distance of 60 to 70 km.

The HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range) is a medium range missile that was built for use by the French Airforce and Navy.

This Missile has the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously. It can also strike fixed or moving targets with high precision.
