Indian Air Force is planning to acquire more capable version of the Spice-2000 bombs from Israel. Spice-2000 bombs were earlier used in the Balakot airstrikes by Indian Air Force. SPICE stands for Smart, Precise Impact, Cost Effective.
According to ANI report, India has already Spice-2000 bombs and It is now planning to acquire more stand-off weapons like the Spice-2000 bombs under the emergency procurement powers granted to the services.
In Feb 2019, Indian Air Force targeted terror camps in Balakot, Pakistan which were 60 kilometers from Line of Control.
Due to standoff between India & China, Narendra Modi government has granted emergency financial powers to defence forces under which they can buy any weapon systems under Rs 500 crore.
Narendra Modi government had granted the same similar financial power to Indian Armed Forces after the Uri terror attack & Balakot airstrike.
