In a kind gesture, Bahrain pardon 250 Indian prisoners

The government of Bahrain has pardoned 250 Indian prisoners who are serving sentences in the jails of Bahrain. Bahrain has announced it during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to Bahrain. Pm Modi is the first Indian Prime minister who has visited the Bahrain.

The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, “In a kind and humanitarian gesture, the Government of Bahrain has pardoned 250 Indians serving sentences in Bahrain.”

The Prime Minister has specially thanked the King of Bahrain and the entire Royal Family for their kindness and compassionate decision.

According to official figures, 8,189 Indians are serving sentences in various foreign jails, of which 1,811 are the highest in Saudi Arabia and 1,392 in the UAE. It is not clear how many Indians are in Bahrain’s jails.
