Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has praised Indian democracy and endorsed India’s membership to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
“If there is one country which by its military strength and it’s size and economic potential.. one country that has a claim on the United Nations Security Council, that is India,” Tony Abbot said, while speaking at the sidelines of an event in Delhi.

The former Australian PM Tony Abbot criticised China for its suppression of ongoing protests in Taiwan and Hong Kong. He said that India, Australia, Japan and America – these four democratic countries should work together. He said, “why do some officials of Australia think that democratic and English understanding nation like India cannot do the things which communist China can do..?”
He also said that 500 million Indians are connected to the global economy by smartphones and India’s GDP has increased 4 times in the last 40 years. Tony Abbot said that India is the fastest growing economy in the world for the last 5 years.
