Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat made a big statement on Monday, saying that the Transgressions of Chinese army along LAC will not be tolerated. If negotiations fail, then military option is on table. CDS Rawat said that the government’s effort is to resolve the issue through dialogue. However, he indicated that the forces in Eastern Ladakh are fully prepared.
General Rawat said, “The government wants to settle the matter in a peaceful manner. The job of the defence services is to monitor and prevent such such transgressions. If the efforts to restore the pre-LAC position are not successful, then alternatives to military action will also be considered. “
The military option to deal with transgressions by the Chinese Army in Ladakh is on but it will be exercised only if talks at the military and the diplomatic level fail: General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff on the ongoing dispute between India and China in Eastern Ladakh pic.twitter.com/YT6hxzReP5— ANI (@ANI) August 24, 2020
He said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are considering all options to restore status quo ante in Ladakh
Actually, India and China have held several rounds of military and diplomatic talks in the last two months but no significant decision has been made to resolve the border row in eastern Ladakh. In such a situation, this statement of CDS Bipin Rawat is clearly a strong message to China.
