1) First Women’s Heptathlon Gold: Swapna Barman becomes first Indian heptathlete to win Asian Games gold. Before Barman, only Bengal’s Soma Biswas and Karnataka’s JJ Shobha and Pramila Aiyappa had returned with a medal from the Asian Games. Soma and Shobha had finished two-three at both Busan Asian Games (2002) and the Doha Games (2006), while Pramila had won a bronze at the Guangzhou edition.

2)First men’s Javelin gold: Neeraj Chopra continued his impressive run in 2018 as he bagged gold in men’s javelin throw at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang on Monday. Chopra managed a personal best throw of 88.06 to win the top prize in javelin throw while China’s Liu Qizhen and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem came second and third with throws of 82.22 and 80.75 respectively.

6)First 4*400 mixed relay silver: Assam sprinter Hima Das scripted history by becoming the first sportsperson from the State to win two medals in the Asian Games. The quartet of Hima Das, MR Poovamma, Muhammed Anas and Rajiv Arokia finished the 4×400 Mixed Relay race, coming second behind Bahrain to clinch the silver.
