India’s historic step, voted first time in favour of Israel in UN

India has voted in support of Israel in the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) by opposite of its old stand. This voting took place in the United Nations to reject the request of organization “Shahed” to obtain the status of an observer in UN.

Apart from India, voting of the United States, France, Germany, Japan, Britain, South Korea and Canada, voted in favour of Israel. At the same time, some other countries, including China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, voted in favor of the of Palestine. Proposal for granting observer status to “Shahed” in United Nations was rejected by 28-14.

This is the first time that India has decided to vote in favour of Israel in UN. Israeli diplomat in India thanked the India and tweeted this.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Nethanyahu also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi & India for supporting Israel in UN.
