A suspected detective of Pakistani intelligence agency(ISI) has been arrested in Anjaw district near the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. According to information received from Army sources on Wednesday, the accused has been identified as Nirmal Rai. He lives in Sadiya of Tinsukia district of Assam.
State Director General of Police SBK Singh said that he was working as Porter on the Kibithu and Dichu border posts in the Army. Both these boundary posts are located on the Line of Actual Control. The state police chief said that the army personnel arrested him on January 6 and one day later handed him over to the Arunachal Pradesh Police.
SBK Singh said, “Rai is from Nepali community. Before coming to Kibithu, he worked at a burger shop in Dubai from 2016 to 2018. Singh told that detailed information on this matter will be available only after interrogation. Army sources said that due to the suspected behavior of Nirmal Rai, he was being monitored for the last one month.
An army official told that the handlers of the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI in Dubai would have given the suspect the same training and would have recruited them. On condition of not disclosing the name, he told that he used to tell the sensitive information about the location and deployment, weapons and guns of the military unit located in Kibithu. At the same time, he also sent important information about the development of infrastructure on the Line of Actual Control.
The military official said that a smart phone has been recovered from Rai. Ray’s arrest has been done under the provisions of the government secret matter act. Sections of Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act have also been imposed against him.
