ITBP Eastern Frontier Mountaineering Expedition ‘Vijay’ conducted “Swachhata Hi Seva” drive at one the Highest Sacred Lakes of the world at an altitude of approx. 17800 feet- Gurudongmar, North Sikkim. Gurudongmar, North Sikkim is sacred place which has invited seers, seekers, travelers and nature lovers since long, but lately has become a tourist spot specially for months of may and June every year. Presently, the area is littered with plastic and other non biodegradable wastes.

The ITBP Mountaineering Team ‘Vijay’ cleaned the area for almost 05 hrs and collected 5 big bags of garbage which the team will carry back to Gangtok and dump it in municipal garbage container.

ITBP intend to carry all garbage and plastics found above tree line and close to it. We are trying to create awareness where ever possible about not using plastics.

The Team is committed to use minimal plastic for the expedition and all waste generated by the team during the course of expedition will also be carried back.
