Meet Lalti Ram, An Azad Hind Fauz Veteran- Know his story

The Republic Day Parade of this year was unique because four veterans of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army (INA) participated in the Republic day Parade 2019. This is the highest honour ever given to Netaji’s Indian national Army till the date. For the first time since India becoming a Republic, brave freedom fighters of the Indian National Army (INA) were on Rajpath on this 70th Republic Day. The bravehearts of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose finally get their due. This decision was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give honour to Netaji’s Army Veterans.

four veterans are Laltiram (98) from Chandigarh; Parmanand (99), Hira Singh (97) and Bhaagmal (95). All of these are between 90 and 100 years of age. we are going to talk about 98 years Lalti Ram.

Lalti Ram is from Chandigarh(haryana). Lalati Ram was born on January 1, 1921, in Dubaldhan village in the Beri region of Jhajjar district of Haryana. While in the army of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, He fought in many countries. Lalati Ram was admitted in the Indian National Army (INA) in the year 1941. While fighting for freedom, he disappeared for some time.

After 5 years, he returned and in 1946 he got married. His wife name is Chand Kaur, who is 92 years old today. Five sons of Lalti Ram were in the army and 5 grand-sons are in the army at this time. At the same time, a granddaughter is serving as a police officer and serving the country. While living in the Azad Hind Fauj, he won three medals. He also stayed in the jail of Ambala, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and Kolkata.

In October last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had, while commemorating the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the Azad Hind government by Bose, met some INA veterans.

Apart from this, currently Lalti Ram has been made chairman of Haryana Freedom Fighters Committee. In this way, He is busy working for the well-being of freedom fighters. This is the first time that any freedom fighter has been made the chairman of the committee.
