According to Sources, the court held them responsible for keeping ‘peace’ with local women and staying away from their work place in a campaign area. The police had taken Gogoi into custody after a dispute on May 23, 2018. He was allegedly trying to enter the Srinagar hotel with an 18-year-old woman. A few days later, the army ordered the Court of Inquiry of this incident. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had said in Pahalgam that if Gogoi is found guilty in ‘any crime’ then strict punishment will be given.
After the permission of the Corps Commander, the military officers will set charges against him under relevant sections of the Army Act. They will decide that Major Gagoi will be given some punishment or he will be court martial. The orders of the Court of enquiry were given against him when he had done a lot of rage in the hotel with a woman and a man. All three were questioned by the Srinagar Police in May this year. The staff at Hotel Grand Mamta refused to let the woman in. The police had said that the military officer was later handed over to his unit.
