Manan Wani, An AMU scholar turned militant, gunned down by Forces in J&K

Manan Wani, A Student of Aligarh Muslim University, who turned into terrorist, has been killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara. He was caught in the border district with two terrorists. According to the information received, The police and other security forces caught them in a village near the Border.


Manan Wani was a research scholar from Aligarh Muslim University(AMU). He was in the hit-list of J&k force and UP police. Manan Wani, who was a researcher of the Department of Geology in AMU, had made a letter viral on social media while describing the reasons for running on the path of terror in the Kashmir valley. he had made a letter viral on social media and described himself as a terrorist. Manan Wani was missing from the record of UP police for a long time. Indian Army had also included Manan in the list of top 10 terrorists of Kashmir in the past days.

Manan wani was a resident of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir and lived in Habib hall of AMU. One day he disappeared and On the third day of his sudden disappearance, a photo of Manan Wani with AK-47 became viral on social media and Hizbul Mujahideen spokesperson had also announced his involvement in the terror organization.

The last time he had talked to his family was on January 4. Manan sent out his old photographs with his family to his family. After that, his phone switched off. He also closed his Facebook account. Manan was studying in AMU from the last five years. He was a resident of Taakipora village in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Manan’s family was preparing to send him to the US for further studies, for which they were very excited, but after the news of his involvement in terrorist organization, the family members were disappointed and had hoped to return of Manan.

After the Killing of terrorist Manan wani, J&K ex Chief Minister mehbooba mufti said, “Today a PhD scholar chose death over life & was killed in an encounter. His death is entirely our loss as we are losing young educated boys everyday. It is high time that all the political parties in the country realise the gravity of this situation and try to facilitate a solution through dialogue with all the stake holders including Pakistan to end this bloodshed.”
