Mehooba Mufti: if you remove Article 370, India’s relation with J&K will be over

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has given a big statement on Article 370. She said that if Article 370 was removed then India’s relationship with Jammu and Kashmir would be over. Article 370 provides special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The PDP chief further said that if Article 370 is eliminated then the Muslim majority state(J&K) would not like to be part of India. She said, ” If you break that bridge (Art 370)…then you will have to renegotiate relationship b/w India-Jammu&Kashmir, there will be new conditions…A Muslim majority state, would it even want to stay with you?…If you scrap 370, your relation with J&K will be over”

Mehbooba Mufti said, “do not play with fire, do not play with 35A. If that happens then you will see that which has not happened since 1947. If this is touched, then I do not know what Kashmiris would pick up in Jammu and Kashmir instead of holding the Tricolor.”

On 28th March finance minister Arun Jaitley raised the question on Article 35A and said, “Article 35A is constitutionally vulnerable but it hurt the common citizen of the State the most. “

He further said, “Mainstream Parties of the Valley, regrettably, have let down the people of Jammu & Kashmir. “

In the response of Arun Jaitley, Mehbooba Mufti said, “Jaitley must understand this. It is not an easy thing to say. If you scrap (Article) 370, your relation with J-K will be over,”

It is worth noting that the hearing is going on in the Supreme Court on several petitions challenging the statutory validity of Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir. But after the attack on Pulwama on February 14, the demand for the removal of Article 370 and Article 35 A once again raised. Although the Jammu and Kashmir administration has clarified that only elected government can take the decision on Article 35A.
