Flood waters in Kerala have not landed yet, but the people of politics who have taken the relief in the name of relief are on the seventh heaven. There is no tension between the Center and the state government, but the people who are active on social media have serious objections. Started with a relief of Rs 950 crores, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi released as interim relief. The warriors of the social media took a stand on this so that it is not enough. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) offered 700 crores, then the debate on it again got a chance. When Union Minister KJ Alfons said about this foreign aid that it could be accepted only after the approval of the central government, it became a big issue.
Many more Leftists on Twitter are pointing out why the Modi government is turning away the foreign aid in times of trouble. here is the some thought of so called intelligent people on social media :
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Mahila Committee member tweeted that “Modi must be dying of shame as he himself has promised only Rs. 600 crores of aid to Kerala”, insinuating that perhaps that is the reason by the Prime Minister has not accepted the aid from UAE.
Its bad enough that the Centre is offering only Rs 600 cr to #Kerala.
Its an entirely new low to find reasons to refuse the Rs 700 cr aid that UAE has offered.

UAE offers ₹ 700 crores for Kerala flood relief. Modi yet to take decision whether to accept this money or not. Modi must be dying of shame as he himself has promised just ₹ 600 crores of aid (Our own tax payers money) to Kerala? Shame! pic.twitter.com/hhPUP6gtMO

Instead of welcoming UAE’s offer to give Rs 700 crore to Kerala, KJ Alphons is putting bureaucratic obstacles by saying “it is subject to Centre’s approval”. This is blatant cussedness. Is Centre embarrassed that a foreign govt has offered a bigger package than it?

What is the policy which is stopping govt. to take Aid?
“We feel that we can cope with the situation on our own and we will take their help if needed.” These famous words were spoken by none other than former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the aftermath of the 2004 Tsunami that had hit India and devastated the coast of Tamil Nadu as well as Andaman and Nicobar Islands, killing more than 12,000 people and displacing 6 lakh.
In 2004, the Government had argued for not taking foreign aid that India has enough capacity and resources to deal with any disaster without any foreign assistance. On the other hand, there was also a political reason for making this policy. If India takes help from any one country and refuses another, then it was worried about spoiling the relationship, due to which the policy was made. It is not that India has rejected any foreign aid for the first time. In the last 14 years, India has rejected the help given by Russia, the United States and Japan in the devastation that occurred in Uttarakhand in 2013. Apart from this, the Indian government has turned away foreign aid in the Kashmir earthquake in 2005 and in the floods in Kashmir in 2014.
The Modi government has already released the first installment of Rs 500 crore for the relief of Kerala and talking further to the rehabilitation of flood-victims and relief funds, but social media logician thinking only about foreign aid for shelter of kerala if the central government will not give any help after giving Rs 500 crore. Indeed, the people who are looking for the reason of embarrassment for the Modi Government, without taking foreign help, forget that the question is about self respect of the country. If a country tries to help you it doesnt mean that the that country is care for you more than of your own country. so respect your own country. your country care for you most than any others country.
