NIA Arrests Ex-Sarpanch From Kashmir For Terror Links

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a former sarpanch from Kashmir on suspicion of having contact with terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen. Currently, NIA is investigating the case of suspended DSP Devendra Singh

The NIA on Thursday arrested Tariq Ahmed Mir, a former sarpanch from north Kashmir’s Shopian district. He had also contested the 2014 assembly elections from Wanchi, south Kashmir, as a BJP candidate.

After the arrest of Tariq Ahmed Mir, BJP has also cleared its stand. J&K BJP said that Taiq Ahmed Mir was expelled from the party 2 years ago and his connection with terrorist organisation has nothing to do with the party.

According to sources, Tariq Ahmed supplied arms to the Hizbul terrorists in the DSP Davinder Singh case. Naveed Babu, A Hizbul terrorist was also arrested along with DSP Davinder Singh on January 11, 2020.

During the interrogation, Tariq Ahmed Mir has confessed about his realtion with Naveed Babu – Hizbul commander but has denied any knowledge of DSP Davinder Singh.

On January 11, the J&K police arrested Davinder Singh on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway along with two Hizbul terrorists. One arrested terrorist was top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Naveed Ahmad Shah alias Naveed Babu and other was Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists Rafi Ahmed.
