Congress is claiming that ‘6 surgical strikes’ in UPA tenure. According to Rajeev Shukla of congress, “6 surgical strikes were conducted during Manmohan Singh govt. One was conducted on June 19, 2008 in Bhattal Sector in J&K’s Poonch, one from Aug 30-September 1, 2011 in Sharda Sector across Neelam River Valley in Kel”
He further said that a third surgical strike took place on January 6, 2013, at Sawan Patra Checkpost; another on July 27 and July 28, 2013, at Nazapir Sector; a fifth one on August 6, 2013 at Neelam Valley; and the sixth one on January 14, 2014.
But Former DGMO of Indian Army from 2012 to 2014, Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia had denied Congress claims of ‘surgical strikes’ during UPA tenure. he also tweeted that Surgical Strike of 2016 was first of its kind.
My take on the surgical strikes. The surgical strikes executed in 28/29 Sep were the first of it's kind against Pakistan demonstrating a politico mil will. The execution by the SF was flawless an unparalleled https://t.co/yNTEdDfG09— Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia (@Ptr6Vb) June 29, 2018
