Odisha: Villagers Lynched 2 Maoists Who Came To Stop Republic Day Celebration

In Odisha, villagers lynched two Naxalites who were forcing villagers to stop Republic Day celebration. Naxalites also ordered the villagers to celebrate 26th January as Black Day. 

After this, Villagers killed one Maoist, while one was injured. After this incident on Saturday night, Maoists entered the village on Sunday night and burnt a dozen houses.

After this incident in Jodamba village, the villagers have scared and vacated the village. Villagers have taken shelter in the camps of the nearby police and the Border Security Force (BSF). 

It is reported that late Saturday night, Maoists reached Junturai village of Malkangiri district of Odisha and ordered villagers to celebrate Republic Day as Black day.

Maoists had also ordered to stop road construction and other development work in the area. The villagers were already angry over the development work being hampered in the area. The villagers opposed this order of the Maoists, Then Maoists opened fire due to protests from villagers.

Villagers were enraged by the firing from the Maoists and attacked the them with arrows, bows and stones. One Maoist died in this attack by the villagers, while an another Maoist with a bounty of Rs 4 lakh on his head was captured after he suffered injuries.

The killed maoist was identified as Ganga Madhi. He was a member of the CPI(Maoist) and carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head.
