Operation Dolphin: 3 more navy staff arrested in spying case

The intelligence department of Andhra Pradesh has busted a Pakistani espionage racket in association with central agencies. Three more people have been arrested in this case. Earlier eight people were also caught in this case. The Eastern Command of the Indian Navy was the target of this racket. This command of the Navy is very important strategically.

The three navy staffs have been arrested for spying. However, earlier arrests have also been made on the same charges. The names of the three arrested are Rajesh, Lokanda and Niranjan. All three were working in the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam.

All the arrests made in this case so far are of junior rank navy personnel. The Pakistani intelligence agency ISI trapped them in the honey trap and asked them to send the information through Facebook and other social media. ISI is also paying money to these junior naval personnel for information. The ISI wanted sensitive information about naval ships and submarines from them.

On December 20, 2019, Indian intelligence agencies busted a spy gang linked to Pakistan and arrested seven Indian Navy personnel and a hawala operator. Later, the Ministry of Home Affairs referred the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
