Pakistan Army hangs its own Brigadier Raja Rizwan for Spying

Pakistan Army has hanged its own brigadier Raja Rizwan for spying charges. According to report, he was convicted by Pakistani Army of spying for a foreign intelligence agency CIA. A civilian doctor and an other Pakistani Lieutenant General was found guilty in espionage charges by Pakistani Army.

Accoding to Pakistan’s website, The Pakistan army chief has endorsed 14 year imprisonment to Lt. Gen (retd) Javed Iqbal and death sentences to Brigadier Raja Rizwan and a civilian Doctor Wasim Akram, employed by an army organization.

In the month of May this year, the Pakistani army had court martialed a civilian including Brigadier Raja Rizwan and Lt Gen Javed Iqbal. All three were accused of spying for a ‘foreign power’. After court martial action, Raja Rizwan was sentenced to death while Javed Iqbal was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

According to sources, when Brigadier Raja Rizwan was posted as Military-Attache (2009-12) at the Pakistani Embassy in Germany’s capital Berlin then he leaked highly sensitive information to the US intelligence agency, CIA, which revealed that how the Pakistani army raises and promotes Militants by using Jihad. 

According to some report, Brigadier Raja Rizwan and Pakistan’s former Director General of Military Operations, Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal (Retd), were accused of spying for American Intelligence Agency CIA in 2011. Both Brigadier Raja Rizwan and Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal had similar charges but only Brigadier Raja Rizwan was hanged by Pakistan Army while Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal has been awarded only 14 years imprisonment. The reason behind it was only that Lt Gen Javed is a Sunni & Brig Rizwan paid the price of being a Shia.
