Pakistani former Ambassador to Indonesia Maj Gen Syed Mustafa Anwar sold Pakistani embassy building illegally. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan filed a reference in court against Major General (retd) Syed Mustafa Anwar for selling embassy buildings in Jakarta (Indonesia) on a throwaway price.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan stated in its reference that former Ambassador to Indonesia Maj Gen Syed Mustafa Anwar sold Pakistani embassy building in Jakarta at a throwaway price during 2001-2002.

This illegal sale of the embassy building resulted in a loss of USD 1.32 million to the Pakistan’s national exchequer. Anwar had issued an advertisement for the building’s sale without approval of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

According to a report by The Express Tribune, Maj Gen Syed Mustafa Anwar had started the process of selling the building immediately after his appointment in Jakarta.

Major General (retd) Syed Mustafa Anwar has been found guilty by The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan under Section 9 (A) 6 of Pakistan’s National Accountability Ordinance for misuse of powers.
