The Saket court of the national capital has sent Sharjeel Imam on 3 days police remand. Significant evidence related to the Jamia violence has been found from Sharjeel’s mobile and laptop. Crime Branch can now arrest Sharjeel even in Jamia violence case.
The police have also identified 15 people associated with Sharjeel’s WhatsApp group and called them for questioning. It includes students from Jamia and Aligarh University.
The crime branch has found a provocative poster from accused Sharjeel’s laptop. Investigation revealed that this poster was circulated on social media groups on 14 December 2019. It is written in the poster that against the CAA and NRC, a gathering is to be held at Jamia Millia Islamia University on 15 December. Significantly, on December 15, there was violence, sabotage and arson in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar.
The poster says, “Muslims should oppose the CAA and NRC. All Muslims should protest together. First Kashmir, then the Babri Masjid, and now the Citizenship Amendment Act are sufficient grounds for protests. Muslims of India should react strongly. Thousands of Muslim youth are ready to disturb Delhi, which will attract the attention of international media.”
https://t.co/LjlVUM5r7r pic.twitter.com/ZOaR8XchdS— Jitender Sharma (@capt_ivane) February 3, 2020
