Punjab government has decided to give tribute to the four soldiers from Punjab who made supreme sacrifice during the face-off between Indian Army and Chinese Army in Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh region. Punjab education department has decided to rename government schools in their native villages after them.
Punjab education department has already sent an order to district education officers of the respective districts.
20 Indian Army bravehearts made supreme sacrifice on 15th June. Naib Subedar Mandeep Singh, Naib Subedar Satnam Singh, Sepoy Gurtej Singh, and Sepoy Gurbinder Singh were among the 20 soldiers who made supreme sacrifice in Galwan valley.
According to the order of Punjab education department, The primary school at Seel village will be renamed as Shaheed Naib Subedar Mandeep Singh Government Primary School, Middle school at Bhojraj village in Gurdaspur will be renamed as Shaheed Naib Subedar Satnam Singh Government School, Middle school of Berowal Dogra Mansa will be renamed as Shaheed Gurtej Singh Government Middle School and The High school at Tolawal village in Sangrur will be renamed as Shaheed Sepoy Gurbinder Singh High School.
Naib Subedar Mandeep Singh and Naib Subedar Satnam Singh belonged to Medium regiment of Indian Army while Sepoy Gurtej Singh and Sepoy Gurbinder Singh belonged to 3, Punjab regiment of Indian Army.
