Russian President Vladimir Putin has targeted teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg on 2nd October during energy forum. Putin called Greta Thunberg as a “Poorly informed teenager” who is being used by the some groups across the world.
During the Energy forum, Putin told people that he didn’t find any excitement about UN speech of Greta Thunberg last month.
Vladimir Putin said, “Greta Thunberg should Go and tell developing countries why they should continue to live in poverty and not be like Sweden.”
Putin further said, “No one has explained to Greta Thunberg that the modern world is complex and different and…people in Africa or in many Asian countries want to live at the same wealth level as in Sweden.”
Putin said, “She wants Africa to use Solar energy, which is plentiful, but has anyone explained her the cost of it”
Actually People of Sweden are very rich and they all are enjoying luxurious lives in Sweden but many people in African and Aisan countries are still living below poverty line.
The 16 years old school Greta Thunberg criticized the world leaders for failing to tackle the climate change by her famous line “How dare you..!”
Thunberg told the UN conference in her speech: “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words.”
Greta Thunberg belongs to Sweden which is a nation with high per capita income, ranking 8th in the world and a high internet penetration rate. Sweden is the first country in the world where about 95-99% people use digital payment service means Swedish people generally use cashless transaction.
Putin told the audience at energy forum that Great Thunberg was being used by some groups for to achieve their own goals. Put didn’t take the name of those groups.
Putin said, “I may disappoint you but I don’t share the common excitement about the speech by Greta Thunberg.” Putin also said youngsters who think about environment and climate change should get attention and we should support those youngsters but when someone uses children for their personal interest then it should be condemned.
Putin further said, “I’m sure that Greta is a kind and very sincere girl. But adults or children’s parents must do everything not to bring teenagers and children into some extreme situations like Greta Thunberg.”
