US Sends 2 Aircraft Carriers, 4 Other Warships to South China Sea

The United States is sending two aircraft carriers into the South China Sea as part of one of the largest naval exercises in recent years. The two aircraft carriers USS Ronald Reagan and USS Nimitz will be conducting naval exercises in the South China Sea from Saturday.

US Navy has also sent four other warships accompanying the aircraft carriers are likely two guided-missile destroyers and two guided-missile cruisers.

Tensions between China and the United States are at peak in the South China Sea. The US Navy has now commenced vigorous maneuvers in this disputed area against the growing aggression of the China. 

The US Navy has sent two aircraft carriers, known worldwide as a symbol of its military strength, to the South China Sea for Naval exercise. The US Navy is giving a strong message to Chinese aggression by conducting exercises. The Chinese Navy is also conducting military exercises in the contested waterway

“The purpose is to show an unambiguous signal to our partners and allies that we are committed to regional security and stability,” Rear Admiral George M. Wikoff.

China is also conducting five days of drills near the Paracel Islands starting July 1, which are claimed by both Vietnam and China.
