On the third day of the winter session, on Wednesday, there was a strong ruckus in both houses of the Parliament. Members of various parties, including AIADMK, DMK MPs, have come to discuss the issues related to the construction of the dam on the Kaveri river in the Rajya Sabha. After 10 mins, the proceedings of the Upper House were adjourned for the entire day.
After the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha began, the entire House, kept silence, remembered the martyrs on the occasion of the Parliament attack. Continuous ruckus continued in the House since then. Disheartened with the behavior of MPs, Venkaiah Naidu(vice president of India) said that the House is ready to discuss all issues but discussion will be done only according to the rules.
Charging the MPs who are committing the ruckus, the Chairman said that 9 people, while protecting us and the Parliament, had lost their lives and all of us have paid tribute to them, at least today, let the proceedings of the House continue. He said that all the MPs should sit in their seats, bad message will be made from this agitation. Even after this, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings till Friday by seeing ruckus.
17 years before on this day, the terror attack on the Parliament of the country is taken place. In the year 2001, 5 gunmen attacked the Parliament premises and rained bullets indiscriminately. In this attack, five personnel of Delhi Police, one woman officer of Central Reserve Police Force, two watch-man and ward staffs of Parliament House, one gardener and one cameraman were killed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the martyrs of Parliament attack on Thursday and saluting their heroism said that their bravery inspires people. Apart from this, all the MPs paid tribute to the martyrs.
