Talking about Major Gogoi, I had clearly said that any case of moral turpitude & corruption will be dealt with sternly. Major Leetul Gogoi has been found guilty in court of enquiry of army because of 1) Fraternizing local insipte of instructions to the contrary. 2) Being away from the place of duty while in operational area. According to Sources, the court held them responsible for keeping ‘peace’ with local women and staying away from their work place in a campaign area. The police had taken Gogoi into custody after a dispute on May 23, 2018. He was allegedly trying to enter the Srinagar hotel with an 18-year-old woman. A few days later, the army ordered the Court of Inquiry of this incident. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had said in Pahalgam that if Gogoi is found guilty in ‘any crime’ then strict punishment will be given.
After the permission of the Corps Commander, the military officers will set charges against him under relevant sections of the Army Act. They will decide that Major Gagoi will be given some punishment or he will be court martial. The orders of the Court of enquiry were given against him when he had done a lot of rage in the hotel with a woman and a man. All three were questioned by the Srinagar Police in May this year. The staff at Hotel Grand Mamta refused to let the woman in. The police had said that the military officer was later handed over to his unit.

North City’s SP decorative Ahmed Shah had asked IGP (IGP) Kashmir SP to do an Inquiry. He said that the police was told that there was a room book in the hotel in the name of Leetul Gogoi. On May 31, the Jammu and Kashmir Police submitted the status report to Srinagar Court that there is no case against Gogoi. Neither the hotels nor the girl has lodged any complaint.
Major Gogoi, posted with the 53 Rashtriya Rifles (Punjab Regiment) at Beerwa in Budgam district. He first came in news after the controversy of “human shield” of a civilian named Farooq Ahmad Dar on his jeep’s bonnet to rescue over a dozen security and election personnel from a stone-pelting mob in Budgam district on April 9 last year.

After this controversy of violation of human rights, General Bipin Rawat saved Major Gagoi and awarded Major Gogoi with the chief of army staff commendation card for his “sustained efforts in counter-insurgency operation as well as his presence of mind and initiative to prevent bloodshed in a volatile situation”. but after this hotel controversy Gen Bipin Rawat stated “If any officer of the Indian Army is found guilty of any offence, we take strictest possible action… If Major Gogoi has done something wrong, I assure you he will be awarded punishment at the earliest… The punishment will set an example,”
