Women to get 20% jobs in Military Police: Nirmala Sitharaman

Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has decided to increase the role of women in the Indian Army. Under this decision, Army Military Police will now have 20% women soldiers. Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Friday that women will be included in the Army Police in a phased manner and ultimately the number of them in the Army Police will be up to 20 percent.

Defense Minister further tweeted, “The women will be inducted in graded manner to eventually comprise 20% of total Corps of Military Police “

last year, Army chief Rawat had said that the process of sanctioning combat roles to women is going on fast and women will be recruited to Army Police. Its aim is to increase the participation of women in the armed forces. At present, women get an option to go to the branches of medical, law, education, signals and engineering.
